Bloomsbury Rescue Squad

Linda Merwarth McFadden has contacted me about joining our group. Apparently she has not done that yet. She wanted to discuss the beginnings of the Rescue Squad. I did find a webpage on the history and hope she will add what she knows to this information back here after everyone reads the page posted by the squad at:http://www.bloomsburyrescue.com/History.html

  1. At the 50th anniversary, my Mom - Dora Cooke - and Elsie Koppee were the only two surviving charter members.

  2. I've had a conversation with Eddie Pacenti Jr. and he spoke to his dad. His comments are as follow as he's not a member.
"Here is a list of people that were the original members of the squad. Charlie Brandt...Elsie Koppe...Grace Race... Dot Smith...Dora Cook....Johnny Wheeler....Ginny Korbobo...Minerva Merwerth.....Chris Heinrich.....Rich Slutter..... Eds dad joined about 6 months after it was started. the oldest living members are Elsie , Dora and Ed... the only thing sheets and gardner had to do with it , was they had the phone in their store and had the first siren on the building. They had no vehicle . they had first aid kits in their own cars. the first ambulance they got was kept at charlie Brandt's garage with the hearsts. Chris Heinrich built the garage on the side of the fire house for their first real home. it was originally called a resuscitation unit. Then Phillipsburg emergency squad trained them ."
