Ice Cream Stand Warrenside by Stewartsville Road

Since I seem to be on an ice cream kick, who can tell me who had the ice cream stand out there, and what the name of it was?

Oscar B. Stamets, Ice Cream Stand

Ok folks I believe his ice cream store was the current Cracker Barrel Corners.........Can someone confirm this or please correct me. I had heard my dad talk about him and the store forever, but I'm getting older and forget a lot myself. Thanks

Bloomsbury Band, William H. Snyder obit

Ok folks I'm still learning here how this program operates. But I know we had pictures before or postcards of the Bloomsbury Band. Now we know who headed it up. If anyone else knows anything please let us know.

Swintner's cup on Rte 22

How many remember going there for ice cream? ;) YUM YUM
I do have a question about the youngest Fleming boy. I remember Bob aka Flip but can't think of his younger brothers name or his mother's first name. Any help out there?

Reuben Jumper Suicide March 14, 1936

I had heard about this since I was small. It was not until now that I found out who it was. Can you imagine the stir it caused back then? I'm only posting it because the man had no descendants and I feel it's a public interest story for Bloomsbury. I do not wish to offend anyone.

Along with the great joys of growing up Bloomsbury come great sorrows.

I know each generation in town has gone through the loss of one of it's members. I saw this in today's Express Times and felt the need to share it. Jeff you will be sorely missed.

The Temperance Movement in Town

Somewhere in this mess I have information from the Methodist Church on this issue too.

I hope not too much Johnny Pickel but a lot of old timers mentioned here too.

Leo Fratezi One Man Band

I believe I referred to this earlier. But just found an article from the paper about this. So here it is. First hand.

Pay attention to the section regarding Moondog

An interesting article I ran into.

Perhaps someone can help me out here and at the same time provide us with more historical information as to the black population in Bloomsbury.

My father always told me that the Freeman family had it's early beginnings in the "house" behind the Methodist Church. The building currently used for storage by the church. That is the only black family I was aware of in town at that period of time. I also knew the "barn" behind Cooke's house was also a home at one time. Who lived there I have no idea. I'm hoping Connie Cooke Bambrick can find some information out on that from her mother. This lady still is a puzzle for me. If anyone knows anything please let us know.

Thanks.

Linda
