Born November 9, 1918 in Stewartsville she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Welch Pinkerton. She was a homemaker. Esther enjoyed her life and loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed her family which was always first, going out to eat, and helping others. She is survived by a son, Edward G. and his wife, Barbara, of Stewartsville; a daughter, Katherine E. Anderson of Chesterfield, SC; a sister, Irma Wieller of Hartwell, GA; thirteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Esther was predeceased by her husband, Edward N. Wean; three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc. in Phillipsburg. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to time of services in the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenwich Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a Hospice of one's choice or to the Alzheimers Association, PO Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.

Jean Gilde Hoffman, 91, enjoyed travel

Jean Gilde Hoffman died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Sycamore Manor, Montoursville, Pa., where she had been a resident for the past four and a half years. In her later years she dealt with dementia and most recently breast cancer. She was 91 and the mother of Scott Hoffman of New Canaan.
Born May 2, 1920, in Wethersfield, Mrs. Hoffman was the second of three daughters to the late Francis Henry and Marie Louise (Berger) Gilde. Upon graduation from Wethersfield High School she worked for the Society for Savings Bank in Hartford. Proposed to marry on her first date by her husband-to-be, Stearns, she waited for his return from World War II and they married in 1945.
Relocating to New Jersey, she and Stearns raised their three sons, Craig, Scott and Keith. Mrs. Hoffman was a housewife, Cub Scout den mother and volunteer. She loved to travel, her family said, and vacationed throughout New England. She also traveled to Nova Scotia, Western Canada, Florida, Bermuda, St. Croix, and Hawaii.
"She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, golfing (with one hole-in-one to her credit), baking and sewing, but it was her family that was most important to her," her family said.
Surviving are her three sons; Craig (Karen) Hoffman of Cheshire, Scott (Kathy) Hoffman of West Suffield, and Keith (Jan) Hoffman of Montoursville, Pa., six grandchildren; Lindsay (Brian) Gallo of R.I., Kimberly Hoffman of Ga., Christopher Hoffman of Conn., Lisa Hoffman of N.J., Sharon Hoffman of Vt., Sara (Shane) Oakes of Pa., one great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Gallo, and two nephews, Bruce (Ann) Work of Conn., Mark Work of Calif.
She was predeceased by Stearns, her husband of 56 years, and by her two sisters.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Health Home Care & Hospice, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, 4th Floor South, Williamsport, P.A. 17701.

James F. McGovern, 74, of Bloomsbury passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born July 17, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Esther A. Breslin McGovern.

He and his wife, Gloria, were married July 11, 1959. He was a truck driver, delivery man and dock loader with Johanna Farms in Raritan Township before his retirement. He served in the Army.

Memberships include Church of Annunciation in Bloomsbury, where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society; life member of Pattenburg VFW Post #6059; Citizens Hose Company in Easton; Liberty Hose Company in Easton; West Easton Fire Company; Safety First Fire Company; the Italian American Social Club in Phillipsburg and the American Legion in Stewartsville.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gloria, he is survived by a son, Patrick and his wife, Patricia of Chesapeake, VA; two daughters, Michelle McGovern Lara and her husband, Gustavo, of Bloomsbury and Kathleen Erickson and her husband, Stephen, of Suffolk, VA; a brother, Francis McGovern and his wife, Maryanne, of Monroe, GA; a sister, Catherine McGovern of Bloomsbury; seven grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. A brother, Joseph J. McGovern died earlier and a twin sister, Ann McGovern died at birth.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 695 Corliss Avenue, Phillipsburg, NJ followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in Church of Annunciation, 80 Main Street, Bloomsbury, NJ. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Township.

Hazel M. Stone, 93, of Easton, PA, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Manor Care of Easton. Born: in Easton, PA on October 26, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Blanche Orza Quinn and Edward Maurice Transue. Personal: She was the wife of the late Francis J. Stone, who died in 1987. Hazel worked as a Manufacturing Technician at Crayola Co. Survivors: daughters, Suzanne Lee Slack Melton of Easton, Alice Frances Vanderbilt Koyt of Easton; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James J. Stone in 2002. Hazel was the last of seven siblings, James, Samuel, Reade, Ruth, Beryl, and Winfred. Services: Services are private at the convenience of the family. Boyko Funeral Home.
