I do not know anything about the mines on Bloomsbury Mountain, but my mother used to talk about her brother working in a salt mine somewhere between Oxford and Wharton.
Just curious: is the "Pencil Factory" still operating in Bloomsbury?

Donna, when I passed through town last year, the plant appeared to still be there - although it has grown to include the land where the old RR station was. I doubt they are still making the old wooden pencils that we all knew and loved. I just did a bit of research, and this article may be of interest.

Another article said that Koh-I-Noor acquired Grumbacher art supplies, so I'm not sure which name they operate under now. Here is a link to that article. Scroll down to about the middle of the site and read about Grumbacher.

No the pencil factory as we knew it is no longer in business, at least in New Jersey. I believe I posted something about that earlier. I saw recently that the buildings are for sale. I understand the exclusive kitchen cabinet business that was located there, that my oldest daughter Kimberlee worked at, is no more. I am sure however that Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph is still in business.

I guess I was wrong about European Country Kitchens. Here is a link for them now. I'll correct the above statement about them as soon as I can.
